Meetings for Kersey Parish Council

Parish Council meetings are held face to face in the village hall.  (Remote meeting legislation, introduced in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, expired on 7 May 2021.)  The Parish Council will follow government guidance and take any measures necessary to ensure the safety of all those attending Parish Council meetings.  Please do not attend if you or anyone in your household has COVID-19 symptoms.

Anyone not able to attend Parish Council meetings can contact the Clerk or Councillors before a meeting to submit questions, comments or concerns.

  • Monday 4 March Parish Council
  • Monday 15 April Annual Parish Assembly + short Parish Council if necessary
  • Monday 13 May Parish Council Annual Meeting
  • Monday 1 July Parish Council
  • Monday 2 September Parish Council
  • Monday 18 November Parish Council

These Ordinary meetings usually start at 7.30pm and last around two hours.

Notice of all meetings with an agenda are published on the noticeboard at The Splash and online in the folder at the bottom of this page.

Kersey residents are welcomed and encouraged to attend meetings and can ask questions or bring matters to the attention of the Council in the public forum, 'Parish Time'.  Questions and comments can also be given to Councillors or the Clerk before the meeting. The Parish Council particularly appreciates planning applicants fully engaging with the planning process and welcomes them to attend the meeting where their application is to be discussed by the Parish Council.

Extraordinary Parish Council meetings are called as and when necessary, particularly if a response to a planning application is required by Babergh District Council before the next ordinary meeting. These meetings are usual quite short, just to consider planning applications and any other urgent matters. Notice of the meeting with an agenda are published on the noticeboard and online as usual.

As the Parish Council is a statutory consultee, all planning applications for Kersey are sent to us by Babergh District Council for comments. The Parish Council is responsible for the approval and monitoring of Parish Council expenditure and setting the precept. The Parish Council is also involved in highways, community safety, and rights of way.

Our ordinary meetings are regularly attended by:

  • Leigh Jamieson our Babergh District Councillor (South East Cosford Ward)
  • Robert Lindsay our Suffolk County Councillor (Cosford Division)

Minutes of Parish Council meetings can be seen online, see folders below.  A hard copy can be obtained from the Clerk upon request.  A Parish Council report is also published in the Kersey Newsletter.
