The Parish Council has considered various options for how best to ensure the views of Kersey residents are taken account of by those making decisions which impact our area. This includes the Parish Council, District and County Councils and any future local government organisations. The Parish Council has decided to work on a People and Place Plan (also referred to as a Neighbourhood Priorities Statement) which will provide a collective voice to record what is important now and in the future for Kersey Residents. Although, not a statutory planning document, the local planning authority, currently Babergh, will have a legal duty to have regard to the approved People and Place Plan when making decisions.
A People and Place Plan can cover a broad range of elements covering design and character of the area, transport and road safety, environmental sustainability, biodiversity and the natural environment, recreation and social infrastructure.
Surveys for Kersey residents have been delivered to all households at the end of February. The deadline for responses in 24 March 2025. Community organisations, including the Church, School and Pub are also being consulted.
The Parish Council hopes to report initial results at the Annual Parish Assembly on 7 April at 7.30pm in Kersey Village Hall. Once there has been time to fully analyse the results a draft Kersey People and Place Plan will be shared with residents at a consultation event in the village hall.
